In 2019, it is estimated that there will be around 2.77 billion social media users around the globe, up from 2.46 billion in 2017.

The average attention span in 2000 was 12 seconds, this year the average attention span is just 8 seconds. That is less than the 9 second attention span of your average goldfish.

71% of consumers who have had a good social media service experience with a brand are likely to recommend it to others.

B2B audiences largely prefer LinkedIn (82%), Twitter (66%), YouTube (64%), Facebook (41%), and SlideShare (38%) as their preferred social media platforms.

2019 ECOMMERCE & CONVERSION STATS & FACTS

The average amount of time between a Google product search and a purchase is 20 days (it’s 26 days on Amazon).

35% of Google product searches turn into transactions within 5 days.

Cross-device targeting yields 16% more conversions for retail advertisers in the US.

Last reported in February 2019, the figure quoted was more than 800,000 merchants are now powered by Shopify. 2017 saw an increase of 200,000+ new merchants.

Shopifys total revenue for the full year 2018 was $1.073 billion, a 59% increase over 2017. Total revenue for 2017 was $673.3 million, a 73% increase over 2016. Financial outlook for 2019 specifies revenues in the range of $1.48 billion to $1.50 billion.

In the 1st quarter of 2019, 79% of traffic and 69% of orders on Shopify stores are coming through mobile devices.

71% of shoppers believe they will get a better deal online than in stores.

One in four people will continue to shop online at least once a week, and yet only 28% of U.S. small businesses are selling their products online.

Online grocery shopping will reach $100 billion by 2025, grabbing 20% of the total grocery market.

2019 ONLINE ADVERTISING STATS & FACTS

Video is now one of advertisers’ greatest opportunities, with 90% of consumers watching online or mobile video at least weekly.

Digital media is expected to generate 51%, or over $240 billion dollars, of all ad money spent globally in 2019.

Search advertisements are the most popular type of digital advertisement right now, with marketers boosting expenditure in 2018 by 12% to reach $113 billion spent.

TV ads are expected to bring in a 2.5% increase in revenue this upcoming year, despite past drops – topping out at around $183 billion.

Facebook ad revenue is expected to jump 32.1%, while advertisers are expected to spend 14.8% more with Google ads.

82% of people use their smartphones to research purchases they are about to make in a store.

About 75% of ecommerce sales in China are done via mobile devices.

By 2019, 63.4 percent of all mobile phone users will access the Internet from their mobile phone.

Mobile e-commerce will be responsible for $2.32 trillion — or about 67.2 percent — of e-commerce sales by 2021.

90 percent of the time spent on mobile devices is spent in apps.

About 53% of emails are opened on mobile devices, with a 25% more likelihood of being opened with a personalized subject line.

Google makes up a staggering 32.4% of total mobile ad expenditure, with Facebook a close second with 24.6%

70% of mobile users report disliking mobile ads, despite their continued use by businesses.

91% of people in the United Arab Emirates access the internet on their phone, followed by Singapore at 88% and Saudi Arabia at 86%. The United States is only at 57% of people accessing the internet via a mobile device.

As of March 2017, 80% of top Alexa websites were mobile friendly.
